Mangal Geets are traditional offerings/songs that are sung in the wedding ceremonies of Garhwali and Kumaoni communities of Uttarakhand. The women sit together and usher blessings upon the groom and the bride in the form of Mangal Geets or songs. The Mangal Geets are sung by the women of both the sides i.e. the bride and the groom’s family separately. These songs are based on the auspicious wedding of Lord Shiva and Parvati. The groom is considered as Lord Shiva or Lord Vishnu and the bride, is considered as Parvati or Laxmi.
